Study IconIf you visit one of 11 Seattle Public Library branches on certain days after school, you’ll witness something amazing: seemingly ordinary, mild-mannered citizens put on capes and tights and transform into superheroes.

OK, they don’t really put on capes and tights, but they’re still heroic…They’re faster than a speeding bullet when it comes to solving homework problems. They help with homework because their generous hearts are more powerful than a locomotive. (Just like Superman doesn’t get paid to rescue all those people who fall off tall buildings.) And they’re able to leap into helping any K-12 student with any homework subject in a single bound.

Does a homework assignment make you feel like you’re falling off a tall building? Let us introduce you to some of these Homework Help Superheroes…

Superhero name: Rogue Teacher

Alter ego name: Jennifer Wang

Been a superhero since: 2009

Where and when you can find her: Lake City Library, whenever another superhero is delayed by a supervillain (or has the flu)

Alter ego cover story: “I teach and tutor students of all subjects and ages, but these days I work with elementary school students the most. I also love reading, drawing, and singing karaoke!”

Favorite subjects to help with: Language arts, math, social studies

Remember: You can get help with any subject at Homework Help!

Reason for becoming a superhero: “I decided to become a superhero because I believe it is a great chance to practice my teaching skills, which I have studied at college and really love them! I also want to share with students what I have learned at school, and I want them to enjoy them, or decide whether they enjoy them or not, like I have.”

Superhero power (other than helping with homework) she would choose: “I would like to be able to stop the time for as long as I want, so I will have more time in one day.”

The other members of the Justice League of the Lake City Library take care of saving the world (because it sometimes feels like the world will end if you don’t get that assignment done) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
